Hexnode MDM Launches Support for tvOS

Hexnode MDM, the all too familiar Mobile Device Management solution which supports Apple, Android and Windows devices has recently added support to Apple TV. Configuring Apple TV with Hexnode MDM makes the operation of tvOS more smooth and less complex. Since tvOS has found its way to education and business sector in a purely work basis, it seemed only fair to Hexnode to add support to the platform. Hexnode MDM supports Apple TV which runs Apple TV software 6.0 or later.

Apple TV, which is a medium for streaming online content to a TV screen, can also be used instead of a projector. The content from iOS devices or Macs can be streamed through Apple TV via Airplay. Every configuration that is usually done with the Apple TV remote like connecting to a Wi-Fi network, etc. can be done with Hexnode MDM. "Apple TV support has made Hexnode MDM one step closer to the ultimate device management solution that we aspire to be. Businesses are no longer shy to try out new technologies and adopt ways that make work more easy and effective. So it was only a matter of time before we implemented this solution and there are more to come,” said Vipin Govind, the Senior Software Analyst at Mitsogo.

The tvOS enrollment can be done by connecting to Apple Configurator or via DEP. Once enrolled, configuration profiles can be sent remotely from the MDM. The Apple TV configurations in Hexnode include:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Airplay security
  • Conference room display
  • Global HTTP Proxy
  • Certificate Configuration
